UM FÉLAGIÐ

Félag um leiklist í skólastarfi (FLISS) var stofnað af leiklistarkennurum árið 2005 í kjölfar aukinnar leiklistarkennslu í grunnskólum landsins. Í upphafi hafði félagið að leiðarljósi að stuðla að eflingu leiklistar í öllu skólastarfi og að leiklist yrði tekin upp sem ein af listgreinum grunnskólanna. Það markmið varð að veruleika með nýjum grunnskólalögum 2013. FLISS var í upphafi ætlað kennurum sem áhuga höfðu á leiklist í skólastarfi og vettvangur til að styrkja viðleitni þeirra og sýn í því starfi.

Í dag er FLISS fagfélag innan KÍ og opið öllum sem hafa lokið fullgildu kennaraprófi með sérþekkingu í leiklist, þeim sem hafa lokið kennsluréttindanámi á sviði leiklistar frá LHÍ, þeim sem hafa lokið leiklistarnámi með fullgild kennsluréttindi eða sambærileg próf eða reynslu að mati stjórnar félagsins.

Markmið félagsins í dag er m.a. að vinna að eflingu leiklistarkennslu og leiklistar á öllum skólastigum í íslensku skólakerfi, auk þess að efla og fylgja eftir kennslu leiklistar sem sjálfstæðrar listgreinar og gæta þess að samfella sé á milli skólastiga. Félagið heldur einnig úti vinnustofum fyrir félagsmenn og miðlar upplýsingum um ýmis mál er varða leiklistarkennslu.

The Icelandic Drama and Theater in Education Association – FLISS

The Association for Theatre and Drama Teaching in the Icelandic School System, FLISS, was established by Icelandic drama teachers in 2005 as a response to increased interest in the teaching of drama in Icelandic schools.

In the beginning, the aim was to strengthen and augment the use of theatre and drama in schools, with the idea of drama becoming an independents subject in the curriculum of the basic education (6 years to 16 years). The association was to be a forum for all teachers interested in theatre and drama in education; a place where they could strengthen their visions and contribute to their common interest of creating more space for drama in the schools.

In 2013 drama was accepted as an independent subject into the Icelandic curriculum. By then it had secured a standing among the other arts and crafts subjects and a dedicated place and time on the regular course schedule of the school system. Today, the main goal of the association has shifted towards further establishing the subject of drama in the educational system.

Today FLISS has become a professional association, one of several associations of teachers forming the umbrella organisation of The Icelandic Teachers‘ Union. It is open to anyone who has a diploma in drama teaching from The Icelandic Academy of the Arts; those who have a degree in drama with a diploma in teaching, or who are judged to have the equivalent education or experience by the board of FLISS.

The aim of the association today is to work for the strengthening of theatre and drama teaching at all school levels in the Icelandic school system. It also aims to increase the teaching of drama as an independent subject of arts and seeks continuity between school levels from primary school to university.
